Smart ways to spend economic holidays this summer!

Live the summer of your dreams with an economic vacation!

Because we all know the financial hardships most people face, especially at this time of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis, here are some smart ways to cut back on your summer vacation.

Destination selection

The choice of destination is the number one criterion that affects the cost of our vacation. We all want to visit top destinations and famous islands, but the good thing about our country is that you can find beautiful destinations and much cheaper places to spend your summer vacation.

A few days ago, National Geographic published the list of the top 25 travel destinations for 2021. This list includes places that are sure to inspire people to visit them after the end of the pandemic and is part of the publication’s effort to support sustainable tourism. Their choices take into account various factors, such as cultural involvement, diversity, value, how affordable they are, and of course the benefits that each local community derives.

In the Sustainability category there are six destinations from Europe, Africa and the United States. In Greece there is Alonissos, with the new underwater museum, where visitors can explore the ruins of a 2,500-year-old shipwreck.

Month Selection

Choosing the month you want to spend your vacation also plays a very important role in the cost. As we all know, when we go on vacation at a time when everybody go, prices go up, the service is mediocre, and not even a sunbed can be found, let alone a chair to eat. So think hard and have a discussion with your friends, family and anyone else you want to be part of your holiday about whether you are willing to go somewhere out of season or full season.

That is why the quality and most economical holidays are from the beginning of June until July 10-15 and from August 25 to September 15. Also the food then is definitely better!

Choice of Accommodation

Holiday accommodation plays a particularly important role. Basically, it is the A to the Z so be very careful where you will stay and how much money you will give.

In the past, hotels were the main choice of visitors for their holiday stay. In recent years, however, there has been a shift in tourists’ preferences for rental rooms. An important role in this change was the much lower cost of rental rooms but also the need of visitors for milder forms of tourism.

Transportation Option

In order for your vacation to be economical you must forget the idea of the car. We know that the car on vacation is great service, but also think about the idea of the bike! Also this is a great way to work out!

Avoiding tourist traps

The food and drink choices you make during your vacation can significantly affect the budget you have set for them. You do not need to go out every night and waste money on drinks and expensive cocktails. But you can also be satisfied with beers that you will buy from the local supermarket and drink them while relaxing on the beach with your friends in combination with food and an evening swim. This way you will save money and also support the local market.

Also, another trap is dinner. If you stay in a hotel, find one that includes dinner in the price. If you choose the rental rooms again, you can buy and make whatever you like, since the rooms are equipped with all the electrical appliances.

Choose cheap souvenirs

The biggest holiday trap is buying souvenirs and local products for our loved ones. The price of one magnet at 2 euros may not seem like a big amount but we all know that you will not be satisfied with just one. Look for local shops with traditional sweets, souvenirs and other products and avoid the very tourist shops as their prices are usually quite high. Another solution is to buy nothing, the photos you will take are memories as well. The magnet offers nothing more.
